Why blog?
From one empath to another
What made me go through the pain that is creating a website, with no prior site-building knowledge? Good question, and I often wonder if it’s worth it or if anyone will read what I have to say. Nevertheless! I will write. As a sentient being and a massive empath, I feel. It’s something I’ve struggled with my entire life, but after 27 years, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a gift, despite the drawbacks.
I love life. I love people, animals and being outside. I love everything to do with our perfect planet. But our environment is collapsing at the hands of the rich and I don’t feel like standing by to watch it happen. I made a conscious decision to change the way I live, to care for the planet the way I always said I did even though I wasn’t practicing what I preached. I’m taking my power back to make a difference.
Is it frustrating to see billionaires and huge corporations treat earth like it’s dispensable? Of course it is, but that doesn’t mean we can’t all do our bit to protect and look after her. We have a responsibility to treat her with care, and that starts at home.
So...
What can you expect to see here? I’m about to embark on long awaited travels around Southeast Asia, somewhere I have been drawn to since I was a child – so finally experiencing it should be a dream, right? With the climate crisis intesifying, ongoing political unrest and environmental catastrophe, it’s difficult to feel fulfilment. However I remind myself that feeling happiness, excitement, hope, doesn’t make you any less of an environmentalist or an activist.
This is a space to navigate those feelings we all share. A space to reflect on my experiences, to discuss them and pick them apart, in the hope that it might inspire others to live meaningfully and sustainably. There is a world of rich and colourful cultures, that I intend to explore and learn about and bring to you. Through travel I do believe we can take inspiration from different peoples and their traditional practices, to strengthen our connection with nature.
It's another environmental blog?
Yes – but in a positive, educational, story-telling kind of way. I want to show how easily and naturally change can occur when you begin to care deeply about something. After all, how can you love the planet if you don’t truly know her? I’ve realised that when you let go and start tuning in to what’s calling you – what feels innate – everything starts to fall into place. You meet the right people, you arrive in the right places and things start to make sense. Listen to yourself. Listen to natures rhythms.
Come with me as I learn about Gaia.
